Mobile RV generator service

Onan and common RV generators — no-start diagnosis, maintenance, and repair at your location. Sitting kills generators faster than hours.

Active corridor: Montana · Wyoming · Idaho · Washington — case-by-case beyond.

Proof

Power when shore fails

Onan / Generac / Kohler service on site — unique frames only.

Technician tools laid out for mobile RV electrical and generator work.
Platforms

Built-in coach units and portables. Onan QG/QD/Marquis (gas and LP) dominate the fleet; Generac, Kohler, NPS (Yamaha-based inverter gens), and portables (Honda, Champion, Westinghouse, and similar) are in scope for diagnosis and field repair.

Service coverage

What we diagnose and fix

No-start diagnosis

Fuel delivery, ignition, choke, starter, and control-board signals — carb fouling and fuel degradation after storage are common.

Surging & unstable output

Carburetor / governor issues that hunt RPM or produce unstable voltage under load.

Overload & shutdown

Low output, failing AVR, brush wear, or circuit overload when A/C comes online.

Oil & fuel service

Oil, air filter, plugs, fuel filter — ethanol-blended fuel left sitting is a primary failure driver.

Brushes, AVR, fault codes

Wear items in the generator head plus Onan fault-code interpretation in context.

Exhaust & mounting

Exhaust leaks are a CO hazard; connections, muffler, and compartment sealing checked on service visits.

Schedules

Keep it reliable

Annual service

Oil, filter, plug, fuel filter, and operational test under load — the baseline between seasons.

Pre-storage

Fuel treatment or carb drain before long sits.

Post-storage start-up

Inspect and service before you need it on a 95°F campsite afternoon.

Pricing teaser

Trip fee $75 within 30 miles, then $1.50/mi. Labor ~$150/hr (1-hour minimum, billed in 30-minute increments). Diagnostic $175 applied toward repair if you proceed. Parts billed separately.

FAQ

Generator service questions we get a lot

How much does RV generator repair cost?

Depends entirely on what's wrong — a fuel system service and annual maintenance run far less than a carbon-brush or AVR replacement. We diagnose on-site before quoting any repair. See pricing for base rates.

Why won't my RV generator start?

Most common: stale or ethanol-degraded fuel gumming up the carburetor, a stuck choke, a failed fuel pump, or a control-board fault code you can't see without a proper diagnostic read. Generators that sat all winter without a fuel treatment are the most common no-start call every spring.

Why does my generator shut down when I turn on the AC?

Classic overload-under-load symptom — usually low output voltage, a failing AVR, worn carbon brushes, or a genuinely overloaded circuit. We load-test output voltage and frequency to isolate engine-side vs. generator-head faults before recommending a repair.

Do you work on Onan, Generac, and Kohler generators?

Yes — Onan is the most common brand we service, followed by Generac and Kohler. Also NPS-certified for the full NPS line, plus portables from Honda, Champion, and Westinghouse.

Do I need a full service if it's been sitting all winter?

A post-storage inspection and fuel system service is worth doing before the first trip of the season — it catches the fuel-gumming and hard-starting issues that develop from sitting, before they strand you at a campsite with no shore power.
